The Breakfast Club has secured a site for its 12th restaurant—on Portobello Road in London. The brand has eight other sites in London—in Battersea Rise, London Bridge, Soho, Croydon, Hackney Wick, Canary Wharf, Hoxton and Spitalfields—as well as restaurants in Brighton and Oxford, and is currently crowdfunding for further growth.
The Alchemist has agreed a fourth location in London—at Embassy Gardens in the Nine Elms development. The Alchemist already operates at Bevis Marks and St Martin’s Lane in the capital, and will launch on Old Street in the Spring. The 5,200 square feet Embassy Gardens bar and restaurant is scheduled to launch in September. Managing director Simon Potts said: “We are delighted with the new site and excited to be part of the developing community ay Nine Elms.”
Loungers has applied to the local council for permission to launch a Lounge bar on Huntingdon high street in Cambridgeshire in the spring, according to local media.
The Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group has opened its first in-company restaurant under a deal with contract caterer Aramark. The Jamie’s Deli venue at the offices of JP Morgan in Dublin has an all-day eat-in and grab and go menu. The group recently announced a ten-year deal with Aramark to take various Jamie Oliver brands to workplaces. Chief executive Jon Knight said: “With this new site, we’re achieving Jamie’s goal of bringing wholesome, nutritious and delicious food to hard-working people and transforming the way they can eat in the workplace.”
Mexican brand Barburrito has opened a site at Bristol airport. It is a second airport opening under a partnership with The Restaurant Group’s Concessions division, after Edinburgh. TRG has also opened a branch of EAT at the airport and will be taking its Frankie and Benny’s brand there in the spring. Barburrito chief executive Morgan Davies said: “Bristol is a fantastic city and I’m delighted to open at the airport. The response has been great and it is exciting to be building on our relationship with TRG Concessions.
Tex Mex concept Taco Bell has secured permission for a new restaurant in Bradford. It will be located next to a newly opened KFC on Odsal Road in the town.
Healthy eating concept Redemption has opened its third location on Shorts Gardens in Seven Dials in Covent Garden. It joins sites in Shoreditch and Notting Hill.
Liverpool-based restaurant group Silk Rd is to open a fourth restaurant on Hope Street in the city. Silk Road already operates at Beetham Plaza in Liverpool and has two other restaurants in Heswall on the Wirral and Bramhall near Stockport.
Vegan Indian street food operator SpiceBox will open its first permanent restaurant on Hoe Street in Walthamstow at the end of January. It has gained a strong following after operating at street food venues including Kerb Camden.
Scotland’s Cook & Indi’s World Buffet brand is to open a seventh location at the Clyde Shopping Centre in early February. The 5,000 square feet restaurant will be next to Nando’s there.
Maryam Sinaiee, a blogger about Persian food, has opened her first restaurant, called Maryam’s Café, in Chiswick.
