New openings round-up

Brasserie Blanc, Flight Club, Fazenda, The Ivy Collection and Pachamama are a few in this week's list of new openings.

Ramen brand Tonkotsu will open its 11th restaurant at the Dickens Yard development in Ealing on 1 December. Tonkotsu has nine other sites in London—at Bankside, Battersea, Hackney, Haggerston, Notting Hill, Oxford Street, Soho, St James’ Market and Stratford—and one in Birmingham.

The New World Trading Company has set 3 December for the opening of its latest Botanist bar and restaurant at the Brewery Quarter development in Cheltenham, local media report. It will be the 16th location for the brand, with new sites in Bath and Coventry following soon.

Mexican brand Benito’s Hat says it will open a restaurant in St Albans next month, with another to follow at the O2 Arena early next year. The St Albans site will be on a unit previously occupied by Jamie’s Italian Deli, and the O2 restaurant will be a flagship branch. The openings follow fresh investment in the brand from Calculus Capital.

Franco Manca has started recruiting for a new opening on Catherine Street by Aldwych in London in December—its 43rd location in all. It follows recent openings in Cambridge and Bath.

Social darts, restaurant and bar concept Flight Club has just opened on King Street in Manchester—its first launch outside London. It has taken on the former Burger & Lobster site on King Street and has 14 oches. Flight Club will also open at the Nova development in Victoria on 30 November—its third London site after Bloomsbury and Shoreditch.

Brazilian restaurant group Fazenda will open on Colmore Row in Birmingham next Friday (16 November). It is a fifth restaurant for the brand, which also operates in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh. The Birmingham site has 200 covers.

Upmarket fried chicken brand Yard & Coop is crowdfunding to open a new restaurant in Leeds. It already has sites in Manchester and Leeds and is seeking £50,000 for the Leeds launch via Kickstarter.

Nando’s will open on South Western Terrace in Yeovil in December, according to local media.

Loungers will open the Portello Lounge in West Bridgford in Nottinghamshire before the end of the year. The venue has about 6,000 square feet of space over two floors.

Brasserie Blanc has opened within the refurbished Marriott Hotel at Hale Barns close to Manchester airport. It is an all-day operation from breakfast to dinner. Brasserie Blanc also has a restaurant within a Marriott hotel in Bournemouth.

Burger Theory, the burger restaurant and bar concept with branches in Bristol and Cardiff, is opening up in Birmingham. It is an alliance with Kongs Bar and is located off Victoria Square in the city.

The Ivy Collection has set 27 November for the opening of its latest new restaurant in Spinningfields in Manchester. It will be a four-floor operation with a brasserie, bar, private dining room and roof garden.

Stonegate Pub Company is opening branches of its Popworld brand in Chelmsford and Hartlepool in the next couple of weeks, taking the estate for the format to 33.

Soho-based Chinese steamed bun café concept Bun House has secured a new site on Lisle Street in Chinatown. It will open in February to coincide with Chinese New Year celebrations. The 1,300 square feet, two-floor space will have room for 72 covers.

Waterloo-based Japanese ramen restaurant Yamagoya is launching a second restaurant on Shaftesbury Avenue. The concept is sharing the space there with Chinese hot pot restaurant Shuang Shuang, and will open in mid-December.

Taco Bell will open a new site in Portsmouth on 14 December, according to local media.

Marylebone’s Peruvian restaurant Pachamama has opened a second site on Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch. Pachamama East is set over two floors and specialises in pisco cocktails as well as Peruvian small plates.
