New openings round-up

Loungers, Comptoir Libanais, Dishoom, Tim Hortons and Casual Dining Group round out this week's new openings.

Comptoir Libanais will open its 26th restaurant on Tooley Street in London Bridge in the next few weeks. It is a 100-cover restaurant. Comptoir Libanais has also announced plans to open at the Cheshire Oaks retail and leisure development shortly. Healthy fast food operator Leon is among the brands following it to Cheshire Oaks next year.

Pizza Pilgrims will open its new pizzeria under the brick arches on Bermondsey Street by the new-look London Bridge station in late November. It follows the brand’s most recent launch by Tower 42 on Old Broad Street in the City.

Loungers opened the Marciano Lounge in Woking on Wednesday (31 October).

Revolution Bars Group launched its latest new bar and restaurant, in the Revolucion de Cuba brand, at Bristol’s Harbourside last week. The two-floor site will have an emphasis on Latin food, served until midnight, and rum-based cocktails.

Brindisa Kitchens opened a Tapas Brindisa at the Battersea Power Station development this week. It has an in-house charcuterie and cheese bar among other features. The launch joins Tapas Brindisa restaurants in London Bridge, South Kensington, Shoreditch and Soho.

Dishoom has announced it will open its new Manchester restaurant on 11 December. It will soft-launch two weeks earlier. The restaurant is located in Manchester Hall and will have 230 covers over two dining rooms and a bar. It will be Dishoom’s second opening outside London after Edinburgh.

Camerons Brewery’s Head of Steam brand opened its latest craft beer bar and restaurant in Cardiff this week. It took over a Harvester restaurant on Church Street in the city centre.

Marston’s Revere Pub Company will launch a third site for its Foundry Project bar and restaurant concept at the Smithfield Market Buildings in Manchester. It will open on 23 November, with a focus on cocktails, craft beer, sourdough pizza and sharing plates. The other two Foundrys are in Edinburgh and Harrogate.

Whitbread has submitted plans for a new Bar + Block steakhouse restaurant in Newcastle as it continues to roll out the brand. It wants to open alongside Whitbread’s Premier Inn hotel on Newgate Street in the city.

Archway-based vampire-themed pizza brand Lost Boys Pizza is opening a second restaurant on Eversholt Street in Camden in December. It will have a basement absinthe bar as well as pizzeria space.

TGI Friday’s has submitted an application to open at the York Community Stadium complex in 2020, local media report. The development will include a cinema, gym, shops and other restaurants as well as a stadium for York’s football and rugby league clubs.

The Wright & Bell group is to open a new all-day restaurant and bar called Lino in a former linoeleum and carpet warehouse on Bartholomew Close behind Smithfield Market next Friday (9 November). Wright & Bell also runs the Kitty Hawk, Back Room Bar and Whyte & Brown in London.

Canadian coffeeshop brand Tim Hortons will open on New Street in Birmingham in late November as it continues a push into the UK.

Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian fusion concept Sushisamba opened a second restaurant on the Opera Terrace at Covent Garden Piazza this week. The original Sushisamba is in Heron Tower.

Nando’s is to open a new 3,500 square feet restaurant at the Junction retail and leisure development in Antrim in Northern Ireland next year.

Upmarket bakery brand Peggy Porschen will open on King’s Road in Chelsea after agreeing a deal with the Sloane Stanley Estate. The 2,400 square feet parlour-style venue will launch in the new year and will be open from 8am to 10pm every day. It is a second site for the brand, after Belgravia. Peggy Porschen said: “The King’s Road offers a vibrant and desirable catchment in the heart of Chelsea, and was an obvious choice for our next Peggy Porschen Parlour.”

The US-based Christmas-themed cocktail bar Miracle is to run a pop-up in the UK this year. It will operate in the bar of the Henrietta Hotel, selling festive-themed cocktails and Alpine-style food amid Christmas décor. It will run from 23 November to Christmas Eve.

The Casual Dining Group has signed a new franchise deal to open branches of Las Iguanas, Oriel and Bella Italia in the United Arab Emirates. The agreement will see the launch of 11 branded restaurants in the next four years, in locations including Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
