Plymouth’s new Barcode development at Drake Circus, home to brands including Nando’s, Zizzi, Five Guys, Loungers’ Cosy Club and Paradise Island Adventure Golf, opened to the public this week. Cineworld is another tenant at the new complex.
Nando’s has announced plans to open a new site under its Nino express format, on Lavender Hill in Clapham. It will open on Tuesday (29 October), focusing on takeaway and delivery, though it will also have a small eat-in space. Nando’s has already launched Nino in Twickenham and Fulham. Nando’s has also just received permission to open at the Anchor retail park in Hartlepool.
Rosa’s Thai Café is to open on Manchester’s Deansgate, in a unit previously occupied by Handmade Burger Company. The 60-cover restaurant is scheduled to open in the spring.
Stonegate Pub Company is to reopen its Be At One bar in Manchester at the last remaining Living Room site in Deansgate. Be At One was previously at Barton Arcade. Stonegate acquired Living Room in 2013 and has since converted the estate into other formats.

Filipino fast food brand Jollibee is continuing a move into the UK with a launch on Whitechapel in Liverpool. Jollibee launched into the UK with a restaurant in Earls Court last year, and has since set out ambitions to open in several major regional cities.
Ramen brand Tonkotsu opens its 11th restaurant on New Inn Yard by Shoreditch High Street on Friday (25 October). It follows close behind a tenth opening in Peckham.

Burger brand Bleecker has opened its fourth restaurant—and biggest yet—at Westfield White City. It joins Bleecker’s three other restaurants in Spitalfields, Victoria and the Bloomberg Arcade.
JD Wetherspoon will open a pub in the Cross Gates suburb of Leeds in May 2020, local media report. It had originally been due to open this autumn. Wetherspoon has also acquired The Navigation Inn in Kings Norton in Birmingham, which was previously run by Greene King.

Independent wine and restaurant brand 28º–50º Wine Workshop and Kitchen has signed to open a second site on Upper St Martin’s Lane in November. The 7,000 square feet unit will be adjacent to Dishoom, and will form part of The Yards, the recently rebranded series of interconnecting courtyards in Covent Garden, including St Martin’s Courtyard and Mercer Walk. The original 28º–50º is in Marylebone. The signing was completed by Longmartin Properties, a joint venture between Shaftesbury and the Mercers’ Company.
Tokyo Industries has submitted a planning application to open at the former Neighbourhood bar in Spinningfields, local media report. It wants to develop an immersive concept with music, theatre and films alongside a bar and restaurant.
Epic Pies, a bakery and patisserie specialising in pies, is opening on Carter Lane close to St Paul’s Cathedral on Monday (28 October). It has operated for the latest four years at markets and festivals.
Leamington Spa burger restaurant Libertine Burger has opened a second site at the Chapel Street dining quarter in Rugby.
Fried chicken street food and pop-up operator Other Side Fried are opening a permanent restaurant on Atlantic Road in Brixton in December. It currently operates at venues including Pop Brixton, Peckham Levels, Kerb Camden and a takeaway kiosk in Leicester Square.
