New openings round-up

Brunning & Price, Five Guys, Patty & Bun, Tonkotsu and Tortilla are a few of this week's new openings.

Ramen restaurant group Tonkotsu is opening at New Inn Yard in Shoreditch in the next few weeks. It follows another recent new opening in Peckham.

US brand Wingstop has opened its second restaurant in London—on Kingsland High Street in Dalston. The 80-cover site follows the opening of Wingstop’s first UK venue on Shaftesbury Avenue. Wingstop has plans to open around six new sites a year in due course, in partnership with Lemon Pepper Holdings.

The Antic group has just opened a new bar and restaurant called Pineapple in Elephant & Castle.

Bloomsbury Leisure Group have applied for permission to open a craft beer pub by Victoria station in Manchester. The Victoria Tap would be on Todd Street on the approach to the station. The group already has a Piccadilly Tap at the city’s other main station, as well as Taps at Euston and Waterloo in London.

Board games café and bar operator Draughts is moving its Haggerston venue to a new location on Kingsland High Street in Hackney in mid-October. Draughts also has a site in Waterloo.

The St Austell Brewery has received permission to open a bar and restaurant on the harbour in Paignton in Devon.

Five Guys is soon to open at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet in Swindon, local media report. It has submitted plans to refurbish a unit that was previously occupied by Ed’s Easy Diner.

The Cubitt House pub and hotel group has opened its sixth site—the Beau Brummell on St James’ Market in Piccadilly.

Japanese on-the-go brand Kokoro has applied for permission to open on Canterbury High Street, according to local media. It currently has 23 units operating under franchise in the UK.

Brunning & Price has opened a new pub restaurant in Guarlford in Worcestershire. It is called The Plough & Harrow, and was previously operated by Wadsworth.

Burger operator Patty & Bun plans to open a new restaurant on Kingly Street in Carnaby in late November. It will be in a unit currently occupied by Breddos, and would be Patty & Bun’s ninth location.

Healthy on the go brand Itsu has opened a new branch on City Road in Hoxton. It is the group’s 76th location.

Brunch-focused restaurant operator Brother Marcus is opening a third restaurant in Spitalfields Market in November. It currently operates in Angel and Balham.

West Midlands fish and chip shop group The Cod’s Scallops is opening a fourth site in Market Harborough. It joins three restaurants around Nottingham, in Sherwood, Wollaton and Long Eaton.

Tortilla opens a new site at Market Square in Cambridge on Friday (4 October)

Covent Garden pasta restaurant Bancone is opening a second site on Lower James Street in Soho before the end of the year. It has taken on a unit previously occupied by Foxlow.

Richmond coffee roasters and café Kiss the Hippo opened a second site on Margaret Street in Fitzrovia last week.
