Arc Inspirations has opened its latest new Manahatta venue in Harrogate. It joins another Arc bar, Banyan, in the town. The New York style Manahatta bar is the result of a £400,000 investment. Martin Wolstencroft, chief executive of Arc Inspirations, said: “We’ve already had great success in Harrogate, and are delighted to bring Manahatta to the town.”
Nando’s, Zizzi and Five Guys will all open at the new Drake Circus The Barcode cinema and leisure complex in Plymouth on 21 October, followed soon after by Loungers’ Cosy Club bar and restaurant and the Paradise Island indoor golf concept. The Barcode is a £53m development across 100,000 square feet of space. More restaurant operators are reported to be lining up openings in seven units that remain to be let.
Nando’s opened its latest new restaurant in Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday (10 September). It is part of the Jackson Square retail development in the town. Nando’s has also just opened at the Crown Point North shopping centre in Denton.
Five Guys opened new restaurants on Cathedral Square in Worcester and at Gloucester Quays in Gloucester this week.
Tapas Revolution will open a new café, bar and restaurant at Westfield Stratford in early October. It will be an eighth location for the brand, after Bath, Birmingham, Bluewater, Newcastle, Sheffield, Westfield Shepherd’s Bush and Windsor.
Craft beer concept The Tap In has opened a permanent bar at Elephant Park in south London. It previously operated as a pop-up there, and is run by the team behind the Six Yard Box bar in Peckham.
Cocktail bar operator Tequila Mockingbird has opened a fourth site on Atlantic Road in Brixton. It joins sites in Clapham, Putney and Tooting.
Loungers has acquired a second site in Birmingham for its Cosy Club brand. It will open a 6,000 square feet venue in Brindleyplace, previously occupied by The Smoke Haus. Loungers has meanwhile just opened the Casco Lounge at the Intu Lakeside shopping centre.
Bristol-based pizzeria brand Bosco has received the go-ahead for plans to open in Milsom Place in Bath. It is taking on a unit previously occupied by CAU. Bosco has restaurants on Whiteladies Road and Regent Street in Bristol.
Barbecue and burger brand Hubbox has opened at the Gunwharf Quays development in Portsmouth. It is the eighth branch for the brand, with another new opening planned for Cardiff soon.
Fuller’s is to launch a new all-day restaurant, lounge, basement cocktail bar and co-working space at The Chamberlain Hotel on Minories in the City, after a £2m refurb. It will open on 30 September.
Three new restaurant openings have been announced for the Grafton Centre in Cambridge. The Burger Priest will open a fourth site there, alongside Turkish concept Skewer and Asian street food operator Chi. More brands, including Gail’s Bakery, are due to follow as part of plans to revamp the food and drink offer at the centre.
Thornbridge Brewery is to open a new bar on Boar Lane in Leeds in the next few months, in partnership with craft beer bar wholesaler Pivovar. It is in an old retail unit on the road. The two companies are also planning a joint launch in Birmingham.
The Ivy group will open a branch of its new Ivy Asia restaurant and bar brand in New Change Passage in London shortly. It is a second location for the concept, after Spinningfields in Manchester. The new restaurant has replaced Jamie Olive’s Barbecoa in New Change Passage.
JD Wetherspoon is awaiting consent to open in Ely in Cambridgeshire, local media report.
A new gin bar, school and restaurant called Manchester Gin has opened in the railway arches on Watson Street under Manchester Central station. It will allow people to create their own gins, and will also have a cocktail bar, all-day restaurant space and distillery tours.
Qatar-based dessert brand Apple Butter is to move into the UK with a site on Monmouth Street in Covent Garden, previously occupied by Balans Soho Society. It plans to open before Christmas and intends to launch four more sites in the capital.
