The Market Halls group says it will open its second food hall at Terminus Place in London in November. It will be set over three floors with space for 300 people, including 11 different food operations, plus three bars and a coffee shop. The first Market Hall opened in Fulham in the Spring, and another is due to follow off Oxford Street before the end of the year.
The 3Sixty Restaurants Group, now running as a joint venture with Mitchells & Butlers, has announced two new openings for its Ego Mediterranean restaurant brand: the Ego at the Cedar Tree in Nuneaton in October and the Ego at the Grapes in Shrewsbury in November. Both are conversions of Toby Carvery restaurants.
Pret a Manger is to open a vegetarian-only Veggie Pret store on Deansgate in Manchester. There are three Veggie Prets in London, in Soho, Shoreditch and Exmouth Market, but this will be the first outside the capital. Pret ran a social media poll to identify locations for the Veggie Pret brand.
Nando’s has set 11 October for the opening of its new restaurant at the Springs development at Thorpe Park in Leeds. The site has 144 covers and becomes Nando’s seventh restaurant in Leeds.
Indian small plates restaurant and bar brand Kricket opens its third site at the White City Television Centre development in London on Tuesday (25 September). The 100-cover venue joins Kricket restaurants in Soho and Brixton.
Street food collective Kerb is to launch a new market on London’s Devonshire Square next Wednesday (26 September). It will have only vegetarian and vegan operators, many of them drawn from its inKERBator programme. The Devonshire Square launch is a joint venture with the WeWork collaborative workspace company.
Bistrot Pierre will open its latest new restaurant at the Cathedral Lanes development in Coventry on 4 October. It will be the 24th location for the brand and follows recent openings in Preston and Plymouth. The Coventry site has 124 covers.
Five Guys has announced plans for a third restaurant in Northern Ireland—at Boucher Square in Belfast. It joins brands at Boucher Square including Nando’s and Frankie & Benny’s. Five Guys’ other two Northern Ireland sites are at Victoria Square in Belfast and the Rushmere shopping centre in Craigavon.
Zela, a Japanese-Mediterranean fusion restaurant concept in Ibiza from the Mabel Hospitality Group, whose backers include footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, is to open in London in the next few weeks. It will be situated within the ME London hotel on the Strand.
London wine bar and wine merchant brand Davy’s will launch The Tappit Hen on St Swithins Lane in the City in the next few weeks. The 3,700 square feet site will have a bar, dining space and two private areas over two floors at ground and basement level.
Brazilian-Japanese fusion concept Sushisamba will open its second London restaurant on Covent Garden’s Opera Terrace in the next few weeks. Its 9,000 square feet space with 130 covers was previously occupied by Brasserie Blanc and Chez Gerard. The original Sushisamba is located in Heron Tower, and the brand also has sites in Miami, Las Vegas and Amsterdam.
The Potteries-based Titanic Brewery will open a second location for its café-bar concept Bod in early October—in the old first class lounge at Stoke-on-Trent railway station. The first Bod is in Stafford, and a third location in Trentham is at the planning application stage.
