CGA by NIQ’s latest On Premise User Survey (OPUS) offers a deep dive into the habits, motivations, and spending patterns of over 5,000 nationally representative consumers. The findings provide a powerful foundation for brands and operators to tailor strategies by channel, category, occasion, and region.

The data shows that the On Premise remains a vital part of everyday life in Poland. Nearly half (44%) of consumers visit venues at least weekly, rising to 54% among 18 to 34-year-olds and even higher in urban centres like Lodz (58%), Wroclaw (57%), and Krakow (56%).
These frequent visitors are not just socialising—they’re spending. Weekly visitors invest an average of Zł 327 per month on eating and drinking out, significantly more than occasional visitors. However, the survey also highlights economic pressures, with 71% of consumers feeling the impact of the cost of living and 66% expecting it to continue.
This makes value and quality more important than ever. While affordability matters, Polish consumers prioritise atmosphere and food quality when choosing where to go. The data also reveals a strong appetite for discovery, with 73% saying they enjoy trying new drinks and brands when out.
Understanding these preferences is key to building loyalty and driving trial. Whether it’s tapping into the importance of family time and relaxation, or aligning with regional trends and occasions, the insights help suppliers craft experiences that resonate.
The survey also explores emerging formats like Zabka cafés, offering granular detail on category consumption and channel dynamics.
Abhi Sehgal, CGA by NIQ’s client solutions manager EMEA, said: “The On Premise is at the heart of everyday life and special occasions in Poland, and it’s the place where drinks brands are built. While incomes are under pressure, consumers are prepared to spend—but only if they get the right quality and value. It’s never been more important to understand precisely what guests want and how to give it to them, and our OPUS solution is the perfect starting point for strategies that engage consumers and generate brand trial and loyalty.”
The On Premise User Survey service is now live in Poland, giving suppliers and operators immediate access to the insights they need to shape winning strategies.
