New Openings Roundup 1st August

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Vagabond is opening what it says will be the country’s largest urban winery at British Land and AustralianSuper’s Canada Water Masterplan development in London. It will be a 6,000 square feet venue with a 100-tonne winery and capacity of 300. The venue will open later this year.  

 

Dishoom has submitted plans to open a branch of its Permit Room bar and restaurant brand in Liverpool. The proposals are for a unit on Dale Street. There are currently four Permit Rooms in Brighton, Cambridge, London and Oxford, with another to follow in Glasgow soon.

 

The Maguro Group, parent of the Bunsik brand among others, is to open a second branch of its Korean restaurant concept Bullgogi at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester later this year. Bullgogi currently operates at Notting Hill Gate, with another site following in Little Venice. The Manchester operation will be a 6,000 square feet site in a former retail unit.  

 

Soho-based burger brand Supernova has just opened a second site on Thurloe Place in South Kensington. Another restaurant is following soon in Mayfair. 

 

Dave’s Hot Chicken is about to launch at the Printworks development in Manchester, local media report. It will be a third UK site for the brand, after London and Birmingham.  

 

The Rio Brazilian Steakhouse brand has opened at the Riverwalk development in Durham, after taking on a 150-cover unit previously occupied by Estabulo. It is a seventh site for Rio, with another opening coming soon in Sunderland. 

 

Loungers has submitted plans for a new bar and restaurant on the high street in Haverhill, local media report. It will be called the Colmo Lounge.

 

Malaysian brand Roti King is opening on South Andrew Street in Edinburgh—its first site in Scotland. Roti King currently has four restaurants in London and one in Brighton.  

 

Fairground-style competitive socialising concept Fairgame will open its second sire at One New Change in London’s St Paul’s on 21 August. It will have 12 different games as well as street food from various vendors. The original Fairgame is in Canary Wharf. 

 

A new food hall called The Food District has opened off Edgware Road in London. It has 15 different vendors and is a third court for its parent group after Stratford and Kensington. 

 

Peak District-based group Longbow Ventures has announced plans for a sixth location in Bakewell. It will be called The Charleston and is due to open early next year.  

 

Soho smash burger restaurant Junk is shortly opening a second site on St Christopher’s Place. 

 

Thailand-based restaurant group Khao-So-I is opening a first UK location on Market Place in Fitzrovia. It is due to launch in October. 

 

The Sushi Co opened a restaurant on Western Road in Brighton this week—its 21st UK location. 

 

The team behind the Olives & Mezze Mediterranean brand have just launched a new Asian-style burger concept called Hanbaagaasuuteeki on Buckingham Palace Road in London. It has taken over a 1,500 square feet site previously occupied by Neat Burger.
