New Openings Roundup 13th June

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The Northern Monk brewery is opening its first pub in Scotland after acquiring The Hanging Bat craft beer bar in Edinburgh. The food at the venue will be provided by King of Feasts. Northern Monk currently has two sites in Leeds and one in Manchester. 

 

Mission Mars’ Neapolitan pizza brand Rudy’s has just opened by Clapham Common in London. Rudy’s now has seven sites in London, and 34 in total. It opens its latest new restaurant in Brighton this weekend. 

 

Nando’s opened its latest new restaurant at the Bishop Auckland Retail Park this week. Local media have report that it will also be opening soon in Kilmarnock in Ayrshire. 

 

The Chickpea Group has announced an opening of a pub with rooms in Cranborne in Dorset in July. It has taken on the Fleur de Lys there. The Chickpea group has ten sites across the south west. 

 

Steakhouse group Flat Iron has secured a restaurant on Ship Street in Brighton, local media report. It is due to open in the Autumn. Flat Iron currently has 18 sites, and has another launch lined up in Bristol. 

 

Loungers has just opened the Granito Lounge in Tavistock in Devon—its 255th Lounge 

 

Maki & Ramen opened in an old retail unit at the Highcross centre in Leicester this week—its first site in the East Midlands. New openings are also lined up in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Nottingham and Sheffield. 

 

Pret a Manger says it has reached the milestone of 500 sites in the UK, after opening two new format sites in Maidenhead and Broughty Ferry that are providing more made-to-order and eat-in options. 

 

The Salad Project has announced plans for four new locations—in the Nova development in Victoria, by the Tate in Southwark, Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill and Battersea Power Station.

 

The Scotland-based Café Bar group is opening a fourth location, and a first in England, at the Dalton Park Outlet in County Durham. It will be called Café Bar 1838. The other three Café Bar sites are in Bathgate, Linlithgow and Livingston, all to the west of Edinburgh. 

 

La Mia Mamma, which has restaurants in Chelsea and Notting Hill, has opened a third location on Northcote Road in Battersea. 

 

Wingstop has announced a third restaurant in Bristol will open this summer. It will be on Queens Road in the Clifton area.

 

HBR, a smash burger concept based in Kuwait, opened a first international location on Eccleston Street in London’s Victoria this week.  

 

Chelsea-based pan-Asian restaurant Huo is opening a second site on Belsize Lane in north west London in July. 

 

Spain-based healthy eating brand Plant Shack is to launch its first UK site on Great Eastern Street in London’s Shoreditch next week. Plant Shack currently has eight locations in Spain.  

 

Wendy’s is about to open a restaurant in St Sampson’s Square in York, local media report. 

 

Pomus, a restaurant, bar and shop concept developed by Ryan Jacovides, former managing director of Megan’s and the Jamie Oliver restaurant group, is opening in Folkestone. It is a third site for Pomus, after two in Margate.
