The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Rita’s Beer Hall & Ballroom, the new food, beer, cocktails, music and competitive socialising concept from the Stonegate Group, has just opened its first location on Woodhouse Lane in Leeds. 

 

Thai group Giggling Squid has submitted plans to open a new restaurant in an old retail unit on Bridge Street in Chester, local media report. 

 

US family entertainment and restaurant group Chuck E Cheese is planning a launch in the UK, according to reports. It has appointed Wright Property to find locations in places including Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Milton Keynes. Chuck E Cheese currently has around 600 sites in the US, Canada and elsewhere. 

 

The Fulham Shore group’s Franco Manca Italian pizza brand has just launched two new restaurants: on Bold Street in Liverpool and New Oxford Street in London. 

 

London-based pizza brand Santa Maria will open in Kew in January. It will be a fifth restaurant for the group, after Islington, Fulham, Ealing and Fitzrovia. 

 

Plant Shack, a Spain-based fast casual brand specialising in vegan food and juices, is to launch under franchise in an undisclosed location in London. Plant Shack currently has six sites in Spain. 

 

Afrikana will open a new 2,700 square feet restaurant at the London Designer Outlet in Wembley shortly. It also has openings coming soon in places including Edinburgh, Leeds, Sheffield, Southampton and Wolverhampton.  

 

Loungers has just opened the Pedro Lounge in Bromley—its 242nd Lounge and last new site of 2024. Openings lined up for early January include Lounges in Bolton and Tenterden. 

 

The SSP group will launch a new all-day restaurant concept at Liverpool’s John Lennon airport early next year. It will be called Monty’s Diner 

 

Officina 00, an artisanal Italian pasta restaurant and workshop concept with sites in Fitzrovia and Old Street, is to launch a third location on Dryden Street in Covent Garden. 

 

The Urban Pubs & Bars group is opening the George & Dragon in Wanstead in January. The pub was previously run by JD Wetherspoon. 

 

Street food collective Stack launched its fourth site in Middlesbrough this week. It hosts operators in 25 shipping containers. The other three Stacks are in Lincoln, Newcastle and Sunderland, with several more in the pipeline in cities including Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield. 

 

Edinburgh’s Vittoria restaurant group has opened a fish and chips concept called Landy’s on North Bridge. It is the group’s seventh location in the city.

 

Manchester-based Indian street food style brand Chit n Chaat has opened a fifth location at the revamped Orient food court at the Trafford Centre. Another local brand, Hello Oriental, will open there shortly, with more to follow in the new year. 

 

Indian restaurant brand Kricket is to open a fifth site on Charlotte Street in Shoreditch in the Spring. It will be the first Kricket to have a breakfast offer. The first four restaurants are in Brixton, Canary Wharf, Soho and White City. 

 

Caffe Nero is opening branded cafes in branches of Waitrose. The first six co-locations are in Billericay, Godalming, Keynsham, Locks Heath, Stroud and London White City. 

 

Belgium-based Moana Poke has opened at the Trafford Centre in Manchester—its second UK site after the Grand Arcade in Cambridge. 

 

Taco Bell is opening under franchise at the Animate leisure development in Preston next Spring.
