The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

The Stonegate Group is launching a new beerhall style concept in Leeds in early December. It will be called Rita’s Beer Hall and Ballroom, and is an update of the former Walkabout pub on Woodhouse Lane in the city. Its menu will focus on Margaritas and pizza as well as beer.

 

JD Wetherspoon is opening a pub in Fulham Broadway after taking a lease on the old railway ticket office there. It will open the Walham Green—named after the original London Underground station—in early 2025.

 

Ireland-based Mexican burrito restaurant brand Boojum is opening on Bold Street in Liverpool in December. Boojum currently has five sites in the Republic and Northern Ireland, plus branches in Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham.

 

The Imbiba group is to open a major new hospitality operation at 12 Bank Street in Canary Wharf next year. The 65,000 square feet venue will have a restaurant, rooftop bar, hotel and live events space, and is adjacent to Canary Wharf’s Eden Dock.

 

Rosa’s Thai is working on an opening at the Promenade in Cheltenham, local media report. It currently has 43 restaurants in the UK, with another new site also coming in Reading.

 

Caribbean brand Turtle Bay opened a restaurant on Exchange Square in Chester this week.

 

The Trading Route, a new three-way bar and restaurant venture from Manchester’s Union Brewery, Trof and Wandering Palate, is launching at Goods Yard in the St John’s district of the city.

 

Dom’s Subs, a sandwich group with three sites in London, is opening a new US-style burger concept called Jupiter Burger at a stand at Netil Market in east London shortly.

 

Gail’s reached the milestone of 150 sites in the UK this week, with an opening on the high street in Watford.

 

Tacosmash, the French taco concept from the team behind the Afrikana group, has opened a second UK site on Ladypool Road in Birmingham. The first Tacosmash is on Mile End Road in London.

 

Shrimp Shack is about to open two new restaurants in Birmingham—on Broad Street and at the Star City development. The brand has two London sites and says it has more openings in the pipeline in Leeds, Liverpool, Luton and Manchester.

 

Santo Remedio, a Mexican brand with restaurants at London Bridge and Shoreditch, has announced a third site, on Thayer Street in Marylebone. It is due to launch in November.

 

A new competitive socialising and entertainment venue called Spider Box has just opened at the Printworks centre in Manchester. It has arcade games, live music, karaoke and a street food style food menu.

 

Manchester’s New York style pizza group Nell’s says it will launch its fourth location in Altrincham on 22 November. The other three Nell’s restaurants are in Manchester’s Kampus, Northern Quarter and Chorlton areas.

 

Quick service Asian brand Chopstix has just launched under franchise on Commercial Road in Portsmouth.

 

Liverpool’s Salt House Tapas restaurant is opening a second site on Bridge Street in Chester.

 

Taco Bell has just opened at the Anglia retail park in Ipswich. It now has 136 locations in the UK, with four more openings to follow by the end of the year.
