New Openings Roundup 11th October

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Simmons Bars will launch on Deansgate in Manchester on 24 October—its first opening outside London. It is moving into a 400-cover unit that was previously occupied by The Botanist. Simmons currently has 23 bars in London. 

 

Arc Inspirations will launch the latest site for its sports bar brand BOX in November—in an old nightclub building at Barker’s Pool in Sheffield. It will be the sixth location for BOX, after Birmingham, Headingley, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham. 

 

Japanese brand Maki & Ramen is opening at the Union Square shopping centre in Aberdeen, local media report. It has taken on a unit that was previously occupied by Carluccio’s. Maki & Ramen currently has seven restaurants in Scotland and three in England.

 

Piccolino, the Italian restaurant brand run by the Individual Restaurants group, will open a 6,000 square feet unit in Chichester in Sussex in early November. It will be the 22nd Piccolino location. 

 

Bill’s, Chaiiwalaand Cornish Bakeryhave all agreed openings at centre:MK in Milton Keynes. Bill’s will open a 3,500 square feet unit in November, while Chaiiwala has taken over a unit previously occupied by Starbucks—which in turn is moving to a bigger location in the centre. 

 

Loungers is to open at the Merry Hill development in the Midlands. It will launch the Toledo Lounge in a 3,200 square feet unit in January. in January. It joins a line-up in the destination’s 55,000 square feet leisure quarter that also includes ASK Italian, Bon Pan Asia, Hollywood Bowl, Wagamama and Wingstop. 

 

Gail’s is to open shortly in Solihull in the west Midlands, after taking on an old retail unit on the high street. Gail’s has also just opened a 1,740 square feet unit at the Elephant Park development in London.  

 

Vietnamese brand Pho will launch its second restaurant in Edinburgh shortly, on Lothian Road. The 100-cover site joins another at Edinburgh’s St James’s Quarter, and is Pho’s third in Scotland. 

 

Tanatan, an India-based restaurant group, is to launch into the UK with a site on London Street in Reading, local media report. Tanatan has four restaurants in India and one in Dubai. 

 

The Warwickshire-based Pug Pubs group has just opened a sixth venue in Northend in Stratford-upon-Avon called The Lost Pug 

 

The Boxpark group has secured planning permission for its opening in the Digbeth area of Birmingham. It is a 17,000 square feet site with room for ten food operators and several bars. It will become Boxpark’s second location outside London, after Liverpool. 

 

Brewery and pub operator Thornbridge & Co has announced a new site—The Wild Swan on Fetter Lane in the City of London. It will be Thornbridge’s first London site and is due to open next Spring. 

 

London’s Peruvian restaurant brand Lima opened at the Sun Street hotel in Shoreditch this week—a third site after Fitzrovia and Covent Garden. 

 

Boulebar, a Scandinavia-based competitive socialising concept on the Southbank in London, is to open a second location on Frying Pan Alley in Spitalfields shortly. More London openings are in the pipeline. 

 

Three Hills Brewing in Northamptonshire is to open a third taproom at the end of October, local media report—on College Street in Rushden. 

 

The Padel Club is launching a 43,600 square feet site at Gloucester Quays retail park—its third location. It will have a wellness-focused restaurant and bar as well as padel courts. The operator has more locations in the pipeline, including Chester and Sutton Coldfield.
