New Openings Roundup 2nd October

The latest news on venues opening across the UK.

Zaap Thai opened its latest new restaurant at the Riverwalk in Durham this week. It is a sixth location for the brand, after Headingley, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and York. 

 

Tomahawk Steakhouse will shortly open a new restaurant at the Metrocentre in Gateshead. It will be the brand’s 11th location, all in north east England.

 

US brand Popeyes opens its new drive-through restaurant at the Snowhill retail park in Wakefield next week. It is the 19th new Popeyes of the year so far. 

 

PizzaExpress and Seoul Bird are both opening at Edinburgh Airport next year as part of a revamp of the departures area. BrewDog is meanwhile relocating its bar at the airport to a larger space. 

 

Burger & Sauce has just launched on Stratford Road in Solihull, in a unit previously occupied by PizzaExpress. The brand now has 17 sites under franchise in the UK, with more openings following in Nottingham, Sheffield, Merry Hill and Manchester as it continues a rollout beyond the Midlands.  

 

Northern Ireland-based Mexican restaurant brand Boojum is launching a 54-cover venue on New Street in Birmingham later this autumn. Boojum currently has 18 sites in the UK and Ireland, and Birmingham will be a third location in England after Nottingham and Leeds. 

 

Guinness World Records has announced plans for an entertainment-based venue in London. It will provide around 60 games and competitions plus restaurant, café and retail elements. The concept is scheduled to open in 2026, but the location has yet to be announced. 

 

The MeatLiquor group is opening a restaurant on Endell Street in London’s Covent Garden after securing a 7,000 square feet unit. MeatLiquor currently has eight sites around London.  

 

Allsopp’s Brewery will open the Blue Stoops pub on Kensington Church High Street next week. Allsopp’s was founded in the 18th century and revived brewing operations in 2020. 

 

The Big Mamma group says it will open its La Bellezza restaurant at Two Chamberlain Square in Birmingham in late November. 

 

Festival Place in Basingstoke has announced the signing of two new brands: Heavenly Desserts and café group Boswells. Wagamama is meanwhile expanding its restaurant unit at Festival Place.  

 

The SSP group has opened a premium wine bar and restaurant called The Vinery at Terminal 2 in Heathrow Airport.  

 

Heartwood Inns has just opened its third pub with rooms—the White Hart in Lewes in Sussex. The group also has openings lined up before the end of the year in Epping Forest and Newbury. 

 

The Dawncrest group in Glasgow opened a new bar and live performance venue called Berlinkys on Sauchiehall Street in the city this week. 

 

Café and bar group Bear will open on the high street in Wimborne in Dorset on 17 October, local media report. Bear currently has seven sites, mostly in the east Midlands. 

 

Taco Bell is opening at the Westwood Cross shopping centre in Broadstairs in Kent, local media report.
