Pizza concept Homeslice and burger restaurant Patty & Bun will both open at the Television Centre in White City next week. A branch of Chelsea’s Bluebird Café will follow in mid-April, with Soho Indian restaurant Kricket following in July. Homeslice already operates at Covent Garden’s Neal’s Yard, Fitzrovia, Shoreditch and the City, while Patty & Bun has 11 sites in London and Brighton. White City will be the FIFTH location for Kricket, which also operates in Soho.
The ETM Group is to open a new bar and restaurant called Maple at the Westfield London development. The 170-cover venue will be ETM’s 15th location and its first in a retail complex and will serve modern European brasserie food and drinks including tanked beer and cocktails. Co-founder Ed Martin said: “Launching a new restaurant and bar at a world-class shopping and leisure destination is a first for ETM, but we believe it is the perfect next step for us.”
Brazilian rodizio and bar concept Fazenda is planning an opening at Colmore Row in Birmingham’s financial district. Subject to approval, it plans to open in September. Brands including Gaucho and the Alchemist have also launched in the Colmore Row area lately. Fazenda already operates in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
TRG Concessions has launched new airside units at Edinburgh airport: Flutes and Tails, The Gathering and The Gathering Deli. TRG recently launched the Barburrito brand at the airport and is also behind BrewDog’s first airport bar. Managing director Nick Ayerst said: “We are delighted to have acquired further sites at Edinburgh airport and look forward to trading them over the summer with a view to developing further award-winning new concessions at the airport in 2019 and beyond.”
Lebanese restaurant brand Comptoir Libanais will open at Grand Central in Birmingham on Monday (26 March). The 3,000 square feet unit will be next to Mowgli at Grand Central.
Izakaya restaurant and bar concept Flesh & Buns is to open a second restaurant at the Copyright development in Fitzrovia in late June. It comes five years after the launch of the first Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden. The 170-cover restaurant will be zoned with bars, dining areas, counter seats, raised booths and an open kitchen.
Thai café concept Rosa’s opened on the high street in Tooting this week. The 60-cover venue also has a 25-cover private area, and becomes the 12th Roas’s location. Another new site is planned for Ealing later this year, along with a first venture outside London, in Liverpool’s Albert Dock area.
Indian street food brand Mowgli has confirmed a first opening in Wales, on Church Street in Cardiff. The launch is slated for spring 2019.
The New World Trading Company has applied for permission to open a branch of its cocktail bar and restaurant concept The Botanist in Exeter’s Guildhall. It has secured a location opposite the Terrace in the Guildhall.
Franco Manca will open its latest new restaurant at SouthGate in Bath on Monday (26 March).
Marston’s has begun work on a new pub, restaurant and hotel to open at the Lincs Gateway development in Spalding. It will adopt Marston’s Milestone Carvery format and is expected to launch in late September. Marston’s has meanwhile set 20 April for the launch of its fifth Lost & Found concept, on Queen’s Road in Bristol.
Everyman has submitted its plans to open a cinema, rooftop restaurant and bar at the Cornhill Quarter project in Lincoln. The £70m development is expected to open in autumn 2019. Everyman chief executive Crispin Lilly said: “Lincoln is such a vibrant city with an incredible heritage and we are proud to become a part of the Cornhill Quarter.”
The D&D restaurant group has opened 20 Stories, a new rooftop restaurant and bar venture at No 1 Spinningfields in Manchester. It has around 300 covers and is D&D’s first Manchester launch.
The Ivy will shortly open a brasserie in the Lanes in Brighton. It is a 240-cover restaurant over 6,000 square feet.
India’s Chokhi Dhani restaurant group is to open a first UK venture on Riverside Walk in Battersea in mid-April. Chokhi Dhani was founded in Rajasthan in the 1990s.
Filmore & Union is to move into the Midlands with an opening within John Lewis at the Intu Victoria Centre in Nottingham. It continues a partnership with John Lewis that has seen it open in York and Newcastle lately.
Steakhouse operator Miller & Carter is opening in Otterspool in Liverpool on 5 April.
Harcourt Inns will open its third pub, The Hero of Maida in Maida Vale, in late April. The pub was previously known as the Truscott Arms. Harcourt was set up by a group including chef Henry Harris, and already operates the Three Cranes in the City and the Coach in Clerkenwell.
Wagamama has reopened its restaurant in the food quarter of the St David’s centre in Cardiff after a major refurbishment.
Maxwell’s Restaurant Group is opening a venue called the Old Compton Brasserie on Old Compton Street in Soho this summer. It succeeds Muriel’s Kitchen on the street, and will become Maxwell’s tenth location.
