Bistrot Pierre is to open a restaurant at the Wish Tower development in Eastbourne. It is the brand’s first signing in the south east, and follows a string of coastal openings in towns including Swansea, Torquay and Weston-super-Mare. It is scheduled to open in spring or summer 2019, and follows an invitation from the local council. Co-owner Rob Beacham said: “We’ve had our sights set on Eastbourne for some time now so we’re delighted to have been selected by Eastbourne Borough Council to open a bistrot in such an iconic site.”

All-day coffeeshop and bar concept Boki has announced more details of its opening on Earlham Street in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials next week. The 1,200 square feet unit will have a daytime offer of British and Asian influenced dishes and coffee from Allpress, plus juices, smoothies and baked goods and pastries. The evening menu will include small plates and cocktails including coffee-based mixes. Co-founder Kim Mahony Hargreaves said: “We want to showcase delicious flavours—great tasting, high quality, and authentic produce—morning to night. Our first independent Boki venture aims to further evolve our previous coffee industry experience to provide our distinctive stamp to quality, creativity and innovation.”
Layo and Zoe Paskin, founders of venues including the Palomar, the Barbary, the End and AKA are to open a new English coffee house operation called Jacob the Angel at Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden in mid-August. The 300 square feet unit is next door to the Barbary, and will serve breakfast lunch and tea every day, mostly for takeaway but with seating for ten inside. The concept has been brought to Seven Dials by Shaftesbury.
