The Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers and CGA Strategy have unveiled Polimapper, a major new online resource to spotlight the importance of ALMR members to the British economy.
The interactive tool breaks down the contribution made by pubs, restaurants and bars in every constituency in England, Scotland and Wales. Data, drawn from CGA’s portfolio of research sources, will include site numbers, employment figures and their economic gross value added (GVA). It will be available to the public as well as ALMR members.
The tool was launched at the ALMR’s 25th anniversary conference this week. ALMR chief executive Kate Nicholls said: “Those of us who work within licensed hospitality understand what a fantastic contribution pubs, restaurants and bars make across the UK. This new resource will be enormously helpful in helping communicate our message to decision-makers, allowing them to understand the economic importance, size and level of investment in the sector.”
The release of Polimapper so close to the General Election on 8 June will boost the ALMR’s efforts to remind politicians of the importance of the eating and drinking out sectors. The ALMR will use it to support its lobbying efforts on issues affecting the industry, and is also encouraging members to reference its data when talking to their MPs and local authorities. Nicholls said: “It will ensure that pubs, restaurants and bars get the credit they deserve and will provide a better understanding of the sector’s contribution, particularly when restrictive or unhelpful legislation is being proposed.”
