New openings round-up

2016 has opened with no sign of a let-up in the pace of new openings, with plans this week from brands including Hawksmoor, CAU, Côte, PizzaExpress, Geronimo, GBK and Bella Italia.

2016 has opened with no sign of a let-up in the pace of new openings, with plans this week from brands including Hawksmoor, CAU, Côte, PizzaExpress, Geronimo, GBK and Bella Italia.

Hawksmoor is to cross the Atlantic with a major opening in New York’s new World Trade Center development in late 2017. The 14,000 square feet restaurant in Tower 3 will be the anchor restaurant for the Lower Manhattan dining district.

CAU will open a restaurant at Milsom Place in Bath before the end of the month. It will be its 16th restaurant in all. The deal was brokered by Shelley Sandzer.

Côte opens its first new restaurant of 2016 in Leamington Spa in February. It will be its 72nd site in all.

PizzaExpress is to open two more restaurants in Belfast, local media report. It already has three there. The brand has also secured a site on Andover High Street.

Geronimo Inns has reopened the Clarence pub on Whitehall after a £1.3m refurb. Changes include the addition of a new first floor Tin Belly Dining Room.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen has signed to open at the CrownGate shopping centre in Worcester. It should be open by Easter, local media report.

Bella Italia has set 15 February for the opening of its latest new restaurant in Orpington.

Nando’s will open at Teesside Park in Stockton late this year, according to local media.

Coffee#1 has just opened in Hereford—with 15 more launches planned for 2016.

The team behind restaurants including London institution Joe Allen have acquired a site for a new all-day British brasserie concept called Mustard. It will debut on Shepherds Bush Road in Brook Green in west London on a site previously run as a Café Rouge.

Native, a new restaurant specializing in wild food, game and rare breed meat, will launch in Neals Yard in Covent Garden in February. The concept has been launched by Imogen Davis and Ivan Tisdall-Downes, both formerly of River Cottage.
