The Muriel’s Kitchen concept has set up a new brand extension for the on the go market called MK by Muriel’s Kitchen. It will open its first new site on Putney High Street in the next couple of months, and will be open from breakfast through to dinner. The company wants to open another five such sites over the next year or so. Co-founder Sam Miller said: “We’re delighted to be opening our first grab-and-go outlet in Putney… MK by Muriel’s Kitchen will aim to be a community hub, delivering something for everyone from healthy to indulgent items throughout the day.” Muriel’s Kitchen has three full-scale restaurants in South Kensington, Soho and Richmond.
A new barbecue concept called Texas Joe’s Slow Smoked Meats is to launch in Bermondsey on 4 July—American Independence Day. It has been set up by Joe Walters, owner of a beef jerky brand and a former contestant on the BBC’s Dragon’s Den series.
Patty & Bun has acquired new sites on Redchurch Street and Goodge Street in London. The first of them will open in the next couple of weeks, becoming Patty & Bun’s fifth site.

Revolution Bars Group has opened the latest new branch of its Revolución de Cuba bar and restaurant concept at the Albert Docks area of Liverpool. The group has spent £1.7m on the new 9,000 square feet venue, spread over two floors and a dining area. It is the ninth Revolución de Cuba, with a tenth to open in Reading in October. Trading director Myles Doran said: “We are thrilled to have opened our latest Revolución de Cuba site, which we are sure will build on the success of recent openings in Nottingham, Leeds and Milton Keynes. It’s a fantastic venue located in the iconic Albert Docks, and we are delighted to be part of the city’s famous skyline. Liverpool has incredible hospitality culture but we believe we are bringing something a little bit different to the city.”
Cure and Cut, a new on-the-go concept specialising in home-smoked pastrami, sandwiches and salads, will open on Monmouth Street in Covent Garden in the next few weeks. It has been set up by restaurateur Jerome Armit and chef Rufus Wickham, and will be open every day from 8am to 9pm. It will be split over two floors with room for 30 guests.
The One Group is to open a branch of its steakhouse concept STK in Ibiza. It will be a 250-cover restaurant at the Ibiza Corso Hotel & Spa, and opens next month.
Blanchette East, the second restaurant from Maxime, Yannis and Malik Alary, will open on Brick Lane in August. It will be a Belle Epoque era Parisian bistro, and joins the original Blanchette on D’Arblay Street in Soho.
Café operator Fego Caffe has applied to open a seventh location in Sevenoaks in Kent. It wants to take on a site that was once occupied by Café Rouge. Fego opened its first site in St John’s Wood, and also operates in Ascot, Sunningdale, Gerrards Cross, Marlow and Cobham.
Fried chicken and cocktails concept Chick n Sours has picked up a second site on Seven Dials. It follows the success of the original restaurant in Haggerston. It will have space for 40 covers and will also sell takeaways at lunchtime.

Five Guys has acquired a site in Norwich. It has taken on the unit previously occupied by Pizza Hut. Five Guys’ plans are for a 120-cover restaurant over two floors. Five Guys has also just opened at the Westwood Cross retail centre in Thanet.
Steak concept Flat Iron has opened its fourth London restaurant on Curtain Road in Shoreditch. It joins two other Flat Irons in Soho and one in Covent Garden.
The Deltic Group has just opened its new Pryzm nightclub in Birmingham. It has spent £1m on the venue, which it acquired at the start of the year. It is Deltic’s sixth Pryzm site.
Mitchells & Butlers has opened its latest new Miller & Carter steakhouse at the Gemini Retail Park in Warrington.
The Original Bowling Company has reopened its Bowlplex venue at the Ozone Leisure Park in Oxford after a £500,000 refurb.
Brakspear has reopened the Sheep on Stow in the Wold in the Cotswolds after a major refurb. It bought the pub at the start of the year and is running it as part of its eight-strong managed estate. It has 100 covers and 22 bedrooms.
