Better burgers, brunch offers and Scandinavian and barbecue food have been among the big trends of the year in eating out according to analysis of 2015 booking data by Bookatable.
It found that burger restaurants had seen the biggest increase in bookings over the last year, followed by Scandinavian then barbecue specialists. Breakfast and brunch bookings were up by 24% and 72% respectively year on year. The increasing popularity of ‘bottomless’ offers of fizzy wine with weekend brunch might well be behind the brunch trend.
Bookatable chief executive Joe Steele said: “2015 has undoubtedly been the year of burgers, brunch and bubbles… The rise of breakfast and brunch bookings echo the growing trend to seize the day, particularly with City dwellers. As a restaurant booking service, we cater for everyone and these results show how diverse Brits taste and dining requirements continue to be.”
